This body of work is formulated around the concept of a “Horse Adult.”
A Horse Adult is referring to those who wanted to be a Horse Girl when they were young, but they either :
a) couldn’t afford to have access to a horse
or
b) they were nervous they wouldn’t be accepted for being so into horses.
The absurdity of chooses to make tiny horses is not lost on me. The project started with how many horses can I fabricated and shifted into embracing the broken and misprint horses as an allagory for the shifting of labor from analogue to digital with the horse being the metaphor as the animal that was bred for labor. The choice to paint the sculptures was to embrace their new function as fooling the viewer into thinking they are porcelain & fragile, like a plaything or collectible. The objects paired with thrifted “fina china” creates the illusion of sophistication.
PLA, resin, enamel paint, and fine china. 2022.
